Hope This Isn't an Excuse or Complaint!

I'm having trouble getting on here to do Tools this last while... I know I wrote about the scary thing with my hubby but this is an ongoing one.

My youngest son has been eating weird things - plastic toys, paint from the walls, plaster, shaving cream - probably other things that I haven't seen. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until he started chewing the walls. I knew he "nibbled" his twin sister's toys but I didn't connect that he was EATING them until teethmarks started appearing on my walls. I got after him, I talked to him, I have started bribing him to eat his meat and potatoes at supper, I am sitting here watching him play and preventing him from putting things in his mouth.

I took him to the doctor last week. He said it's common but they'd do a blood test and forward us to a pediatrician. A week later, I phoned today for the results of the blood test. Nothing (ie. anemia or zinc deficiency). The pediatrician comes once a month from the city. I phoned the little health clinic where babies get their innoculations done. They passed me on to Health Link who couldn't find any reference to pica on their acceptable websites (other than in pregnant women). She passed me on to Poison Control to make sure the paint wasn't going to make him sick. The toys, they don't know because they don't know what's in them. They were both more concerned about him causing himself intestinal injuries (perforation, intestinal obstructions, etc) or choking. Fortunately, the paint he's eating is new enough that it doesn't contain lead. They both agreed I should get him into the pediatrician fast. I rephoned our doctor to get the number and called the pediatrician.... He's on holidays for another week and before they'll see us, my son's file has to be "tre-aged" (I asked what that meant and she said the doctors decide which files are more important than others) and they'll call us to let us know...

So here I am, stressing, watching, trying my best to circumvent and wondering why I'm the only one who seems to be worried...
