says: Woo, way cool! I bet your presence is a great appreciation for most of those you visit. I can not see anything but their spirits being lifted by the mere presence of you. I think spontaneity of conversation from the heart is critical to genuine trust. A recreational activity I suggest is story telling. A guest speaker or maybe a participant could deliver a speech or antidote from their lives to share with the group.

Thank you for all of your ideas...I only have about a 5min. time slot to achieve this. I thought of making their favorite desert recipe at random but have yet to achieve this as well. I will put out the request for recipes this next Monday.
Manu, Thank you about the advice for familiar music. Music is alway a gateway to the soul!

sing! or get some tapes of music they like...music they listened to when they were young. I did some volunteering work with elderly in the past, and I have to say that even the most grumpy ones used to join me when we sang old songs. it's great. you can even ask them to tell you what is their favourite song, so you can look it up for them.
Sending you 100 hugs, to be shared with your elderly friends ;-)
says: Sahndra, thanks for your comment on my blog yesterday. How about making them draw their faces. Use crayons so its safer :) let them draw like little kids :)

Great Idea

That sounds a great idea! Aren't you lovely devoting your time to the elderly? I think that's great!
I love the M&M's idea!
Depending on what they like, you could always bring some cards in, not expensive and most people like to play cards. You could get them all together to play Rummy, BlavkJack, whatever they all know. And again you could have a prize if you want. Even if the prize is just a cake, I'm sure they'd love it. (Providing none of them are diabetic or not able to eat cake for any reason!).
I'll have a think and see if I can come up with anymore!
