Day 9 Goal Setting

Today was about goals vs results and breaking down big achievements into something more manageable.

I really like the Tools philosophy on goal setting.  It makes a lot of sense to me.  One thing in particular that stuck out as I went through it was the focus on breaking things down to longterm, medium term, and short term goals.  This is huge because it helps us wrap our heads around otherwise intimidatng projects.  That's not what struck me though.

The most important part to me was the focus shift towards completing your small goals, and then giving yourself permission to celebrate after each one.  The motivation you accumulate from each little victory is what keeps you going all the way to the end.

My old motivational method is to sort of whip myself to keep going.  The common pattern ends up being work hard for a while, run out of steam, analyse what's wrong, and then start over again.  Just as I 've been focusing on treating myself better all throughout the day, I'm going to make a special point to reward myself for each small milestone that I reach.  No more of this "anyone could do that, why are you celebrating business" from that disparaging voice in my head.  I can already see how much healthier this will be, and I'm excited to put it into practice.

Hope you all have a geat day! :)

Accumulation

I keep reminding myself to accept every little bit I do. I know the accumulation, the action of the journey, will get me the results I want.  It's just getting ove those mental barriers that's the most difficult.  Have a good day and celebrate! whoo-hoo! you did it!

Way to go! Way to go!
