Stretching and the Law of Accumulation

So, I decided a while back that my absolute and complete inflexibility was not acceptable anymore.

I read a lot about how all the aches and pains we have are derived from the fact that our body slowly gets out of alignment when we don't use it enough.  I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that my pelvis was tilted forward, my feet splayed out to the side along with various other *extremely* common problems.

When I first started stretching to try to fix this, I couldn't touch my toes or even get halfway down my shins.  When I tried to sit cross legged I would fall backwards. In fact, I couldn't even sit cross legged.  My hips were so tight my knees just shot straight up in the air.    It was frustrating and even embarrassing if I was stretching around anyone else.

Just before I sat down to write this, I finished my daily stretching routine.  Over the last 6-9 months I've worked at it bit by bit.  Now when I try to touch my toes, I can actually press my whole palm into the ground very easily!  When I sit cross legged, not only do I not fall backwards, but I just touched my head to the ground for the first time!

It's amazing how the work has added up little by little.  I know that my health is my decision and that it is entirely up to me to give my body the best chance of lasting as long as it can.  The quality of my physical health depends entirely on my decisions and it's my full responsibility.  I may have "known" this already, but thanks to tools I can now *feel* how true this is.

Thanks for letting me share my little success story! I hope everyone else is doing as well!  :)
