What if I Don't succeed? What if I do? This causes me concern. Depending on individual pasts this indeed may be a question many have. Seriously though, why would we throw up this mental road block before we even begin!!?
Negatives to optimal health and weightloss? To me this shouldn't be! Negatives to obesity and it consequences YES! but not to changing one's life for the better! Surly not!
To reach for the new you must let go of the old. What lies behind you is not nearly as important as what lies in front of you. Everything you've been through was in preparation of where you are right now! Joel Osteen
I've lived with being obese and its emotional consequences for well over 40 years and am finally the conqueror! I've lost almost 100 pounds now and 10 dress sizes. Yes I've had my demons, both mild and severe and had to make dietary changes, change and increase my activity levels and yes I'll have to maintain this lifestyle in order to stay this healthy and size. As for the personal demons? To me these are NO LONGER negative or threatening in any way!
I gotta ask. Why would after being an overcomer would we want to reintroduce and combined any past negativity with the success of regaining one's health; mentally and physically when it is what made us unhealthy and at risk of shortening our life! Are we not trying to eliminate the negatives? Whether they be our own negative self talk or influences from others and outside sources aren't they what have held us back from obtaining our goals to begin with!? That is defeating ourselves even before we begin! And especially fear of anything! And what is fear?
F.E.A.R: FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.
Imaginary obstacles are insurmountable. Real ones aren't. But you can't tell the difference when you have no real information. Fear can create even more imaginary obstacles than ignorance can.

OMG! Sure I had my moments when my past demons wanted to once again try and influence my mind body and spirit. I didn't let them; I stopped them in their tracks On top of which I was physically threatened with onset adult Diabetes, had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Arthritis in my back and knees so bad I could barely move around, high blood pressure, higher cholesterol, and Asthma. I've also come through sever Ulcerated Colitis in my life time because of obesity! It almost did claim my life at the time!
Within 10 months, less than a year, all these have been reversed and what's left is also disappearing, being completely eliminated! I've reclaimed and taken back the control of my life! Do you think for one minute that this would have been the outcome if I had let the slightest negative thought dig it's claws or sink its teeth in again?
I know change is not easy I get that; eating has emotional and social overtones and it is especially difficult to break free of an addiction. And let's face it the American diet is an addiction all on it's own but not as addictive as smoking or alcoholism. And even as difficult as these are to overcome, many quit and gain control over them and continue to do so.
No making a change is not easy. However, as obvious as it is to all of us we know that if we change our diet enough and exercise we can loose weight- yet overall we remain unsuccessful. Why?
For one thing we mustn't go into change half heartedly or with negative thinking; "I'll give this a try but what if it doesn't work? What if I don't succeed? What if I do?" If that's what you're going to do. If this is your way of thinking. Blunt and plain? Don't even bother. You've already set yourself up to fail. Every great success is the result of a strong and sustained effort. A choice made from both emotion and knowledge. It takes more than "try" It takes two things: Commitment and consistency no matter what. With these you reclaim and regain control. And a commitment is a promise, yea more than a promise. It's a vow to stick with it no matter what.
Yes thoughts occur that is a given It is human nature. But who has the control of what thoughts we keep and which ones we let go of? Yes negative thought is a natural occurrence When it happens what should happen is that we let it go. We do not hang onto the thought long enough to let it become an influence!
But hey if there are those that see a negative side to optimal health and weightloss and are entertaining and clinging to such thoughts as
What If I Don't Succeed? (Negative)
1) I will be disappointed even ashamed.
2) I will never rid my body of it's health issues Instead they will only escalate; Arthritis, Hyper tension even higher cholesterol levels, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Asthma increased risk of heart attack, heart disease, Diabetes.
3) I won't be able to keep up with my family members, friends.
4) I will experience lower self esteem, self worth.
5)others will still be harshly judgmental and critical
What If I do Succeed (negative)
1) I will have to be stuck forever with this lifestyle
2)Will have to actually remain physically active each day.
3) Will have to be careful of portions where trigger/comfort foods are concerned.
Then take another minute and rate each of your negatives and anxieties and fears on a scale of 1-5
1= Not important
2= Somewhat important
3= Important
4= Very important
5= Extremely important
And then continue pushing through until all negatives become positives!
On the flip side....
We've been through the emotional healing of mind body and spirit; we have overcome our demons. We are in sinc and are highly motivated and energized
So now we've made the vow of commitment and consistency but before we even attempt a lifestyle change we must know what we are entering into! We should also be asking the question Is this lifestyle of choice something I can sustain for the rest of my life? If there is questionable doubt or a resounding NO. Then the search must continue.
I will say that you already have my respect and appreciation for making the choice to help yourself, your family, in regaining your health and longevity. You're finally ready to break free of the commitment of a lifetime of compromised health so why would we want a lifestyle change that is going to be an enabler in falling back into our old habits!?
Instead you want a lifestyle where the physiology of your body changing so significantly that you will never be the same in mind body and spirit! You want a lifestyle change that changes your tastebuds; gaining such sensitivity that you will lose most of your cravings to overeat, feel so much better, and see such remarkable results that you'll never even think about returning to your former self.
Do you know that the simple matter is that food choices have the power to either cut short or add many years to our lives? You may think you know all of this but I was in for a rude self awakening with all that I didn't know!
Two things.
One of the things that was finally explained to me and as simple as that knowledge was it actually made the light bulb go on! What was it? Why obesity and chronic disease and premature death as well as the connection between optimal health and longevity are the inevitable consequences of my poor food choices!
The second thing that was explained was the link between low nutrient foods and chronic disease! We're overfed and undernourished! That the secret to reversing this was to exchange the low nutrient foods for higher, the highest micro-nutrient density foods possible and that our diet should be made up of 90% of them! I was made to understand why and then how to apply it.
That's all I needed! Once I was given this knowledge it gave me full empowerment and the transformation has been nothing short of positively, providentially miraculous!
