Good morning WordBird, I wanted to thank you for the boosts, I am finally realising the power of sharing, for so long it seemed i should keep it for only those who i thought would understand, who am i to say who understands and who does not, sharing my story CAN help others !!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Thanks for the boosts and for being such a great cheerleader. Love the challenge even if I did get behind for a day or two. Must have been those 4 hrs of cleaning the garage!

Writing is my deepest passion. I started in fourth grade and all my life have taught writing and been a writer. But I'm also in love with ecology, gardening,  photography, cycling, birds, dogs and cats, and travel.  Volunteering has changed my life and my inner being. I also like long journeys by foot, car, or train. I came to TOOLS after hurricane Katrina ousted me from New Orleans. I really miss that place. It's strange and special. I worked in  Hospice for a time. I learned that aging, illness and death touch all of us and we can be inspired and uplifted by the courage of the ill and the dying. I've lived, worked or traveled many places. My mom is one of the First People of Canada. I have visited and worked on social projects on U.S. reservations.  I enjoy this program and community. I find myself more peaceful, happy and focused because of it. THANKS for stopping by.

What are earth-friendly, non toxic ways to clean the rug? Any products out there, or homemade recommendations? I just want a nice fresh clean rug as winter comes along here. Thanks!

says: Check out www.norwex.ca A brand of cleaning products without chemical/toxins. Although I have not tried all their products, the ones I have are awesome!

I joined TOOLS because:
My friend JET assured me he had spent "hundreds if not thousands of hours" searching for THE perfect inspirational program. THIS IS IT, he says. You have to believe him.
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
In my dream job I write, I teach, I offer support and guidance, and I am involved in ecology. If I can travel too, and am well rewarded by appreciation and free rein to create and great trust in my integrity and independence, DREAM job! Since it's perfection, I have stellar, funny, loving, amazing, committed colleagues, too. And we have a mascot dog at the office. We're involved in something I can't wait to join, every morning.
My favorite wild animal is:
Wild means untamed, free, in its natural state. If a creature is out there still wild, still free, I don't know its name, but I love that creature.
Why (describe as much as possible):
I like the independent and self-sustaining spirit.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
A wire haired terrier makes me happy! All that energy and big smile. A siamese cat is intelligent, mysterious and loyal. Once a siamese who loved me came roaring out into the yard to bat a large lab puppy right on the nose, to protect me from it. For dogs I'd love a Great Pyranees. How calm and loving they are.
Why:
My favorite animals are undomesticated. Whales and Elephants, for instance. They are gentle, connected, wise...they understand life. I adore all birds...so funny and brave. I'm in love with the Great Blue Heron.
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
A fruit salad. Followed by something rich with spices. And then Ethopian.
Why:
I'd want to see what happens to a simple dish in the hands of a food magician. I'd want to experience a dish way too complex and exotic for me to make for myself. I used to go to an Ethiopian restaurant and the food was out of this world good, and interesting. I cannot find an Ethiopian restaurant anywhere these days.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
Julia Child, Rosa Parks, Chief Seattle, Robert Redford and Susan Sontag. Bill Clinton and Aristotle stop by for dessert.
Why:
Julia is outrageous and makes people feel at home. Rosa has a story to tell. Chief Seattle is an eloquant visionary. Redford is a beautiful man with a strong spirit. Joan Didion is a writer who unflinchingly approaches the hard things. Clinton is an incredibly smart man with vast international understanding. Aristotle would remind us all that knowledge is not the same as wisdom. (Let's invite Ellen Degeneres so we lighten up.)That's a cook, an activist, a producer, a politician, a philosopher and a comedian. Fun!
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
Wow. I'd love this. I'd go everywhere possible. No wait. I'd go somewhere practically impossible for me to ever go without this pilot. She or he will leave me there for one month and then come back to bring me home. But WHERE?? Or should I fly up and see my mom?
My perfect slice of pizza is:
Homemade, vegetarian, for teenagers. I make the crust, then the teens cut up whatever they want. Fresh pineapple, mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes from the garden, celery, rubarb, olives--anything they want. Teens will only leave me one slice anyway. :)
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
I'd order a Shirley Temple. When I was kid mom had a professor friend who treated us to fancy meals sometimes and I'd put on my best little dress and order a REAL drink, a Shirley Temple. WITH an umbrella and a cherry in it. Though the only reason I go into a bar is to play Trivia.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
I'm at a little Italian mom and pop in New Orleans. They have owned it for decades. Presumably it's still there. I order Italian expresso.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
I can go back to age four to change just one thing: I know, at that age, what my Bliss is. I follow it and it sustains me through life. 2. there are major advances in healing and medicine which apply today to my family, friends, myself and everyone ill. 3. For 500 years fortune favors the generous and loving. This would mean they do well; and because of their nature, they bring good to everyone else.
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
Joe Cocker Up where we belong. Greg Brown "bathtub Blues" and ...the Yaks. A New Orleans local goofy band. All good highway, sing along and Feel Good CD's.
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Take out all the roads but one. In this one neighborhood, you'd have to walk, bicycle or take a streetcar to get around. Cars are banned. No parking ramps, no parking lots, no exhaust, no gas stations. It would revolutionize everyone's life. You can go outside the area, get your car and do stuff with it. Within a month we'd all be in better condition, have met the neighbors, spent a lot more time outdoors, and stop feeling the strain of noise, noise, noise and rush.
A sunset I remember:
I was in a plane and we flew directly through a rainbow. The colors came into the windows and spread across the inside of the plane. Incredible! Most people just kept right on reading their multi-colored Magazines. I'll never forget it.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
An artist named Carr. The Forest Lover. She was a British woman from a "good" family who instead of doing the expected thing for her day, traveled into the Canadian forest many times during her life, to paint. She also tracked down totem poles to paint them before they disappeared. In those days a woman out in the "bush" was considered both unsafe, and crazy.
Why:
She followed her passion no matter who said what. She explored, experienced, and treasured life. She appreciated her talent and didn't let it sit unused. She took risks. She befriended people others said were not worth befriending.
