A Mighty Heart movie

I made arrangements so I could see A Mighty Heart. It's the new film about the kidnap of Daniel Pearle the journalist, from the perspective of his wife. After the credits, I sat in the empty theatre a while, filled with all kinds of emotions. It's three days later and I'm still rocked by it.

I want to hold on to that sense...that sense that things can and do affect us that deeply, and I believe there can be a reply of sorts.

I mean...I can let this change me. Change my life in a small but essential way. If I don't hurry on to other distractions and concerns, or work to avoid the discomfort of it.

Though on its heels comes Sicko. Michael Moore on medical care and insurance, or lack thereof. Though Moore speaks to my head...here's what's going on, here's the effect it has, here's what so and so said...

A Mighty Heart is a trip into the depth, where no one can make sense of anything because it's all wrong. Something like Crash. Was it Crash? Where intercultural barriers caused misunderstandings and assumptions which set things in motion which brought about other things resulting in one big, injust, useless, mistaken fiasco.

Certainly not an upbeat blog. It's hopeful however. I don't believe when the soul is touched and it may move to make an internal or external change, well a touch that deep is rarely upbeat. It's still good, though. So long as I seize it and squeeze something good out of it. Not lament and do nothing.
