Getting through the working day

I have been challenged for quite a while by where I work and if I want to be there.  It is a large company with lots of perks and good people - sounds great right.....?

Well, it is great but it is not for me.  I keep wanting to leave because I know that my heart doesn't "sing" each day at work.  So it is simple - leave right.  I can afford to leave - so leave right?  Well, here is the problem.  I have a "flight" response as a general attitude to life and there-in lies the challenge. This knowledge has really made me re-assess how my attitude is the difference between staying and leaving.

I have been investigating and working a plan to do some training and search out my ideal career and I know that the time will come, but it is not yet.  That knowledge makes me challenge my attitude each and every day.

To deal with all of this, I have come up with the following strategy to deal with the inner voice in my head:-

1. I get paid well

2. My boss gives me lots of autonomy

3. The work that I do is interesting and varied

4. The work that I do puts me in touch with lots of people internally and externally

I remind myself of all these things each day and keep doing my personal best.  This gets me through.

In the background though, I have identified that when I don't like my job most is when I am being challenged by work that I don't like/don't do very well - ie. I have a skill gap.

Quote of the day:-

The fearless are merely fearless. People who act in spite of their fear are truly brave.

James A LaFond-Lewis

Cherish each day! Angie
