Hello!  My name is Brenda Griffin. I’m creating Get a Job Tools for anyone who is looking for a new job – no matter what the reason may be.  So whether you have been restructured, downsized, feel your job is in jeopardy or you feel you are stuck in a dead end job, this course will guide you to that next position.

I’m here to tell you that there is life after job loss and disappointment. I’ll be sharing all that I’ve learned about how to get a job.   And I want to reassure you that you will get another job!  You just don’t always know where or when!

I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve lost jobs due to lack of work and a chapter eleven bankruptcy after a hostile take over.  My entire department was let go two weeks before Christmas! I understand how unnerving it can be to stay at home wondering where the next paycheck is coming from, while it seems everyone else is headed off to work.

I’ve also changed jobs when I felt I my position was threatened due to pending take-overs and further restructuring.  Even still, I’ve changed jobs when a better opportunity presented itself.  And I know the thrill of getting that special phone call to hear that I’m being recruited for a special opportunity.

What I will share with you is how I took control of my job search and my career path when it mattered most.  I maintained determination to persevere, and repeatedly received solid job offers.  Even better jobs were offered to suite my skills and experience, and jobs where I would make more money than I was before.  And you can do the same thing!

Get a Job Tools will lead you through the entire process and you will have the benefit of the Tools community support as well.  I look forward to guiding you in your job search through the weekly inspirations and the Get A Job Program coming soon.

I've helped myself, I've helped others, and next I'm going to help you - get a job! Thanks for stopping by!

Below are popular job search web sites that I utilize and would recommend:

www.Indeed.com is a favorite of mine.  It is a great job search site that delivers open jobs daily in an e-mail to my inbox.  Note that it is not the place to upload your resume for others to browse.  Simply fill in your search word and search location and Indeed does the rest.  You will receive daily e-mails with job listings that match your search criteria!  They include searches of other major websites so you don't have to check all the sites daily.  This streamlines any job search by providing one stop shopping for you!

www.Simplyhired.com also searches other job sites and business so you don't have to.  You can also do plenty of research about companies here, as well as conduct plenty of networking.

www.Monster.Com is a great resourse with plenty of supporting information for job seekers.  They advise on cover letters and resumes as well as salary information. You can post your resume here as well as apply for job on-line.

www.jobsearch.org is America's Job Ban. It is sponsored by the Department of Labor and has links to each State's Job Bank. It is a very large site with lots of great resources and tools.

www.CareerBuilder.com is another staple in the on-line job search that offers plenty of job search tools and is a very large site with plenty of listings. You can post your resume as well as recieve job alerts.

www.USASearch.gov is the place to go if you are looking for a goverment position.
