Emotion
This is something I am working on too. Being female, you think I would have no problem showing emotion, but tears have always embarrassed me in the past. I didn't cry when my dad died of cancer for two years. I was 11 when he passed and 13 before I cried about it (all by myself of course.) Now I don't have too many reasons to cry except for when I find something very touching/sad. I get teary when I read those touching email forwards, or certain news stories, movies, when I'm having a meaningful conversation with someone else and they start to tear up... What is funny, is I don't know why showing emotion would be something to be embarrassed about. When I see it from others it just makes me love them more for freely expressing themselves.
Btw, you are your wife are good people for giving to others in that way. I'm sure you made that little boys day :-)

It's not that I'm embarrassed, It's that I don't feel emotion or it does not register with me. Almost like I'm no in touch with myself enough to realize I'm feeling an emotion. I did not cry when neither my mom or dad passed away either.
a little off the subject
I just wanted to tell you i think that is amazing what you and your wife do for children each year. Very inspiring :)
