Work Breakthrough

I started doing Tools by listening to Jason Ellis and hearing Coach Steele and I had had a really bad day at work and I was trying so hard to get a new job but was having no luck.  And i have had no luck finding a new job but my happiness here has improved dramatically and i thought it was because we were getting busy again, and in the winter it is slow so every little issue is brought to the surface and it just eats at you all day.  But yesterday a coworker came over after trying my first attempt at banana nut muffins and he said that he was really impressed with my performance lately.  he said that it seems like every day i am making something new and trying something new and they are all turning out so well and its causing a lot of buzz and he just thinks its really cool that i am doing so much.  and i was really appreciative but it wasnt till this morning that it really clicked.  i am not happy in my job because i am busy, i am busy and happy at my job because i realized that finding something new was not going to make happy, i had to do things to challange myself and make my job a better place to work so in creating new dishes i was actually just improving my situation by changing the way i looked at my work.  i was creating new things that were exciting me, new things that were challanging me, new things that got other people excited, new things that were making people notice what i was doing.

the first thing i said on an interview is that in the tiny ill equipped kitchen i am working out of i feel like some monster muscle car with 1000 horsepower stuck in a garage ond only driven by a little old lady to church.  but really i can flex all that muscle i just needed to find new ways to do it.  there are only so many cool sandwiches you can make with chicken ham turkey and roast beef, but baking is a whole new world  to explore and it does not require a 3000 dollar stove it just needs a few special pans.  omelets cook just as well on a 35 dollar camping stove as they do that same pricey stove as long as you have good pans and spatulas and lots of creativity and imagination.

my boss is still a jerk, my kitchen is still too small but now my mind and thoughts go outside all that and i am able to create things again that are exciting and new.  i cant believe the change that is happening that i did not even notice!!!
