priorities

If there is one thing I regret in my life, that is my lack of planning. Not that my life is disappointing, but I know we (my husband and I) could have achieved far more if we had aimed for it. We have been together for 10 years, and even though our life has been a dream, we don't have dreams for the future. Even after 2 children we are not sure where we want to live... and I don't mean which neighbourhood, but which COUNTRY!!!!!!!!  When we met we used to bring the best out of each other, but I’m not so sure if that’s the case any more. We have one of those great love stories that other people envy but we are not working on it. And I think that since having the children our focus has shifted from us to them, which I guess is normal but in my case maybe a bit overwhelming. My boys are the centre of my existence, but maybe that doesn’t make me a better wife.

But how do we move from here? What is the best way to set goals? How do you prioritise when the mind is so busy and confused?  And when your husband is away for most of the week and you feel the distance is growing, how do you bring him close to you again?

Just my 2 cents...

I find that it helps when I plan my week every Monday and adjust my plans every day (because life is never predictable). More than just "planning" though, I plan for each role I have: Wife, Mother, Self, Employee, Sister, etc.

I plan the things I need to do to improve myself in each of my roles and most importantly, I stick to it. I keep everything in a small notebook in my purse. Try planning for each role in your life - it is easy to take care of the squeaky wheel - the kids who need you, but often we can forget to take care of ourselves and our relationships. It sounds like that may be what is happening with you. Try planning for each of your roles and see if it makes a difference at all. If you need help with planning ideas, let me know - I would be happy to share with you what I do. Best of luck to you!

You can do it, keep going! You can do it, keep going!
