Now working for a local authority but facing major change in next year.
Starting singing again fairly recently and playing guitar again even more recently in church. Singing not bad, guitar - well God loves a tryer!
I believe in people. I am a Christian but know people of all faiths and none all have insights I can learn from. Deeply suspicious of anyone who thinks either they have all the answers or the right to look down on anyone else
I'm 52, grew up in a great , squabbly family in Coventry. No-one told me there wa anyhting I couldn't do until after I left school.
Wonderd what the point of school was and left at 16 to find out a bit more about life and earn some money.
Worked pretty much ever since, always to do with people .
Married at 18, left at 30, have a wonderful 28 year old daughter.
Lived and worked in Leicester for a long time and loved the place and the people
Worked in public sector, voluntary sector, partnerships and for myself over the years.
Used to sing in folk clubs, pubs and for charity things.
Got management qualification and Social Sciences degree by distance learning with Open University.
Well thats the question...
Now at a point in my life where career progression isn't the be all and end all. want more time with my partner and to be a good mum and grandma ( when the time eventually comes).
Want to be doing something worthwhile, affirming and enjoyable in twelve months time that gives me more time with the people I love and get a buzz from.
Do want to be fitter and slimmer so I can walk up to Kinder Scout without being overtaken by 70 year olds and can still do it at 70.
I'm at a crossroads in my life and have the chance to make the most of my future instead of reacting to what comes along. I hope joining Tools will give me tools to clarify my own goals and work towards them and get support form others doing the same sort of thing
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
I don't know, but it involves an outdoor setting and supporting children and adults make the most of their potential. Not those who can work it out for themselves and afford to pay for support, but the ones who otherwise wouldn't have the chance
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
Cat ( no specific breed, moggies!)
I've always loved them and couldn't have one as a child. Cats are independant, intelligent , sociable and loyal ( if you deserve it). They have a wicked sense of humour, an inbuilt bullshit detector, style, playfulness, bloodymindedness and the ability to know when you're feeling down or ill and cuddle up and purr just when you need it.
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
Field Mushrooms with Stilton cheese and bread. Fresh caught haddock, poached with cauliflower cheese. Haunch of venison with braised vegetables. Rhubarb crumble and custard. English cheeses and biscuits, coffee
Because I love really good simple British food and I can't have most of these things day to day.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
My partner, my daughter,Tony Benn, Rowan Williams, Emmeline Pankhurst
It would be a wonderful conversation!
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
Isle of Mull, Iceland and Goa. Then Toronto to see family I haven't seen in years
My perfect slice of pizza is:
I don't like pizza. Favourite pasta is homemade pasta bake with ham, mushrooms, broccolli and cheese
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
A pint of Timothy Taylors, or Adnams Broadside. I'd settle for a large gin and tonic if neither were available
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
Health and happiness for my family, my partner and me, enough money to pay off our mortgages, the ability to be more focussed and organised
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring
(separate by commas):
Raising Sand ( Alison Krauss and Robert Plant), James Taylor
( Greatest Hits Vol 1), Kirsty McColl ( Greatest Hits.
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Help provide a really good space for young people
A sunset I remember:
Sitting by the side of a loch on the Isle of Mull with my partner, watching an otter
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
