derdekai's Life List:
Visiting the Dominican and meeting my sponsored child. I did this in 2010 and it was truly a life changing experience.
Visiting Guatemala and meeting my sponsored child. I visited Guatemala in May 2012, but went for a different reason. I spent a week visiting with the national ecumenical council and met Rigoberta Menchu and Rosalina Tuyuc. I hope to go back soon, and I still hope to meet my sponsored child there.
Visiting El Salvador and meeting my sponsored child.
Visiting India and meeting my sponsored child there.
Completing my Master's degree. I finished my MA-Criminal Justice in November 2011.
Completing my mDiv degree. Started this in Feb 2012. New path - new direction - and wow, what a ride!
Find that special someone to share my life with. Not in any rush on this one - but I know it will happen one day.
To actually make it through all 90 days of Tools to Life. I have started at least three or four times, and let life get in the way. (I know, no more excuses.) Started today - July 6, 2012. With all of the other incredible changes in my life, it seemed like a good time to get going!
Spend at least a week on a winter backpacking trip (snowshoe in).
Learn how to can and preserve produce. My first garden is officially growing (July 2012). I am so excited!
I am enough.

I am enough.

For most of my life, I have struggled with feelings of inadequacy. I was abandonned as a child and even though I was adopted by wonderful people, I just never felt like I was enough.

I recognize that a lot of the problems I have had over the years, stem from that one mistaken belief about myself.

I also recognize the opportunities I have been given, and the lessons I have learned through those opportunities. I am grateful for it all.

This past weekend, I did something I have not done in a long, long time. I took a weekend just for me. I spent it with my monsters and a few hours each evening with a friend I had not seen in a long time. I even managed to go for my first solo hike (well, solo me plus the two little four-legged that tagged along). I was a little nervous, but the hike went well. I realized that I LOVE being in nature and being out there by myself I could go at my own pace, stop as often as I wanted to enjoy the scents and sights and tastes (wild raspberries are out). For the first time - I truly understood that I am enough.

Wow! That is such an amazing breakthrough. How awesome that you have found such strength in nature - it certainly is incredible. We have just moved and in our new area there are wetlands that I often go to (with my two four legged friends!!) and it is so uplifting. I just have to say - I looked at your photo and you just shine - did you know that? Keep going - you are amazing.

That is great! Just the idea of being able to connect with someone or something on that kind of level and uplift your understand and belief of yourself. Keep going strong!
