dog food

I have a two year old minature poodle dog, he has stated to be a little fussy about his food. At present he has Natural lifestage adult meat mixed with Burns dry food he has two portions a day one in a morning and one early evening with small snacks inbetween due to a reflux disorder. Has any one got any alternatives. We would like food that has not been associated with animal testing and is not full of additves.

I use Wellness formula. It's a bit pricey and I have to get it from a place called Scraps which is basically a dog boutique (for lack of a better word.) It a wholistic formula and has veggies and good stuff added. My dog loves it. No by products or mystery meat is added. They also have canned food which I used when my dog had surgery and was having some trouble digesting due to the anesthesia. There's also this other product that I can't remember the name, but you can get it at any pet store (Petco, etc.) It looks like a sausage encased in plastic and is meat. I grated that over my dog's dry food to stimulate his appetite for it (he was on antibiotics for awhile after the surgery.) Rice and broth are also good ideas. Some dogs have acid reflux due to wheat or corn in the food so you might check into food that is free of those. Also, you might want to check with a vet about probiotics.

Good luck!Smile

I agree that broth and rice helps digestion.

Hi. I have a Yorkie and a Chi-wa-wa (can't spell it so I spell it phonetically). I add a bit of chicken broth to hard food and they eat it just fine. You can use the canned stuff, I heat it in the microwave for about 10 seconds, and let it sit on the food. You can also add some rice (very good for the digestive system).

If he is picky, maybe cut back on the portions that you're feeding.

Hope this helps :-)
