so sleepy

I am looking for food or drinks that I can take to help keep me awake and more alert. I have food a drink containing Guana which is a stimulant, it deffinately works but sends me hyperactive. Has anyone got any suggestions.

I would like to hear from any one who has hypersomnia is their anyone out there?

says: I have just ordered a multivitamin which has b12 in ti so i will let you know how I get on. Thanks for all the advice.

says: are you taking vitamins? I take b-12 myself now and have lots of energy!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean. I work at a desk all day. Sometimes it's really hard to stay awake.

I don't think there is anything that will replace a good nights sleep. Arrange your life's schedule so that you can get 7 or 8 hours. Try getting a healthy amount of sleep then start your day with a cup of tea or coffee. Stay on a schedule so that your body gets used  to shutting down at a certain time each night. In the mourning be sure to open the shades and let in sunlight, it tells your body it's time to be awake.

I realize that is not easy. Plenty of nights I sit up late at the computer or watching TV for no reason.  I think it's because my life tends to be unenjoyable or uneventful so I stay up looking for some kind of satisfaction before I feel like turning in for the day.

Just my two cents.

Good luck

nothing really helps me as far as stimulants go. caffeine just keeps me from falling asleep, but doesn't quite keep me awake either.

I would suggest though trying to get on some sort of ultra nutritious regimen. Super foods, liquid vitamins, ect.

the only time in my life I remember constantly being alert and energetic was when I was doing this.

getting on a sleep schedule helps - it's actually a treatment suggestion for hypersomnia. I also read that "patients should avoid alcohol and caffeine." So perhaps getting nutrients, sleeping at normal intervals (keep under 10 hours a night for sure), and avoiding caffeine are all a good start I think...
