How do you wake up?

What is your morning routine?  How do you set your alarm clock and where do you put it?

How do you combat the 'snooze syndrome'?

Do you make breakfast?  Is it simple of fancy?

Do you watch the news, listen to a morning radio show, watch sportscenter?

Do you work out? Pushups? Jogging?

Do you and your spouse get up at different times?  How do you adjust to this?

Thanks for the answers.

Today I set the alarm on my phone downstairs in the kitchen.  I also found a really comfy bathrobe at Goodwill this weekend.  The alarm went off at 5:30, and I slipped on the warm comfy robe and went downstairs.  I 'trained my brain' NOT to go back upstairs and crawl into bed.  Instead, I ground up some coffee and started the drip, then went and got dressed.

I was out the door in 15 minutes, feeling good.

says: I have an alarm clock by the side of my bed, and my iphone in the hallway, set 5mins later than the alarm clock. It's on an ascending ring which forces me out of bed! I organise my breakfast things the night before; I often have porridge in the winter months, so I soak the oats the night before. I don't listen to the news in the morning, or watch tv. I throw some jogging bottoms on and take my dog out, I listen to my ipod; upbeat music and daily podcasts. My husband and I sometimes get up at the same time. When he has an early plane to catch then he doesn't disturb me. If I have to get up to go to work and he is at home, then we make a point of having time together talking about our day ahead before I go, and make sure that we have time in the evening as well. We both prefer to have "our alone time" in the morning, Ade prefers to read papers and I prefer to walk the dog or practise yoga.

I make sure to get to seep at a decent time every night even if I feel like I still have too much to do before bed.  The list of things to do will get done faster, and better, if you are well rested.

I also leave myself just enought time to get ready for work.  Immediately after getting up I start getting ready and thinking about the day ahead of me.

I try to get to work somewhat early so that I can eat breakfast and have coffee there while socializing with coworkers and reading the paper.  This gives me a chance to touch base with everyone and engage in some friendly socialization before starting my day.

says: I find that the best way to combat the snooze sydrome is to set the alarm to wake up with exactly enough time to get done your morning routine before the day starts. For me that is about 45 minutes before I would leave the house. This gives me enough time to have a cup of coffee, read the paper, get a shower and leave the house. This does not leave any time to snooze at all.
