Appreciating Others

Here is another point in my life that needs correcting. I am absolutely terrible at this. I know I need to see my grandmother more, parents, brother, friends, etc... more than I do. I do appreciate them... but it's always been hard for me to show. I'm also one who usually uses the busyness of the day as an excuse for not calling, visiting, writing, etc... I also know that for some, like my grandmother, time is running out. There will be a day she won't be here any longer, and I will kick myself until the day I die for not taking or making the time to spend with her. I'm taking the goals suggestions from yesterday and rewriting them on the computer and print them out/hang them up. My first goal will be to talk and visit with those who are important to me at least on a weekly basis. Another part of my not doing this was my life situation before starting TOOLS. I was depressed and finding ways to basically withdraw from the world. That included my family and friends. But it is amazing once you get a better frame of mind, and begin to feel better physically, how your whole attitude and priority set changes. I have a wedding to go to today and tonight. But tomorrow and next week, I start on my first goal after the physical... to reconnect with those important to me. Have a super day and weekend everyone!!!

Yep, hear you

I've been guilty of this myself in the past. Withdrawing from others is a self-protective mechanism and whilst you may feel guilty about it, it was probably a very necessary thing for you to do at the time. It's great that you feel stronger and happier to move away from that state now.

The truth is that other people in our lives are very important but don't forget about the 'me' time that is important for you too. that is something you shouldn't feel guilty about. we need to foremost, look after ourselves and make sure we are happy before we can look after others. Find some balance between the two that you are happy with.

cheers
