Living the miracle

There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.      -Albert EinsteinI love this quote.  It reminds me of two women described by Helen Humphries in her wonderfully incandescent book, Coven»

the challenges of encouragement

With MS, it's so easy to become discouraged. It is the easier path, the one that comes most naturally as bits of your body fall apart, or cease to function reliably, or just plain get cranky. It's the same with most of life - looking at debt, or looking at career aspirations that»

taking steps

Taking mini steps today.  Got organized and headed out for my new church this morning - what a welcoming, warm, encouraging environment. I sat beside an older man sitting alone - it turns out he was there with the Cantor, his wife, who had come to sing the music of Rosh Hashana for our Unitaria»

Back, still fighting the abyss

Back to Tools to remind myself what I already know, get some motivation, move forward. I've had my life totally disrupted by MS - had to leave my job, move to the city, sell my house, and now live in a much less financially secure position.  But what's new, right?  Lots of people o»

Oh Help and bother

Hello Toolers!  Sorry I have been away and not really participating.Had to come back because I am having some difficulty figuring out why I should get up in the morning. My MS is getting worse day by day, despite medication; I've had to leave work on disability, which makes all the stuff I&»

Okay, I'm trying to suspend disbelief, but...

I'm not so sure about the diet recommendations in this program. Just read about not drinking milk because we absorb lactose and it's sugar and what all, but the quote says that lactose is NOT ABSORBED by the body, so under this description, the sugar would never be converted. The real scoop i»

Starting the new program...

Well, in for a penny, in for a pound, so they say, or in my case about 40...Joined the new jumpstart program and will try my level best for the next while to keep focused and get healthier. I know I'll have limitations due to the MS, but that doesn't mean I can't do SOMETHING. I refuse t»

Well, here goes nothing yet again, or seven deadly sins surgically removed

Back I bounce, this time with a new set of goals. I am observing the MS thing as it progresses with the fascination a young child saves for their first caterpillar.  How does that thing move?  they query, and then poke it with their finger, disrupting it's movement and making it curl i»

My life is my decision.....

yadda yadda yadda.  You know, this is the best line, along with the attitude one, that I've learned from Tools. It's a mantra I say to myself (along with my patented golf one, "It just doesn't matter"). Yes, my life is my decision.  Yes, some things in it aren't ac»

growlies and weepies

What a day - I've been on an emotional roller coaster, crying my eyes out at work in the AM, still teary now, but alternating with frustration and anger and some deeply hateful thoughts. At some of my colleagues......Still, all is not lost although I am seriously oomy with undigested emotion and»
