Getting on...

I really haven't explored the real purpose of what writing a blog entails so I'm sort of winging it but I'll learn as I go, I guess.

Well, let me start by saying I began the Tools to Life program as a means to give my life a little more structure.  In the beginning of the process, I admit, I was gung ho but have subsequently slacked off ( I did lose the use of my home computer which contributed to that end but I wasn't necessarily logging on every single day back then either).

Still, I feel, overall I do benefit from logging on to tools to life and it has given me more stucture than I had before.  I am also more aware of my behavior and how it affects my life.  For example, when I fail to get up once my alarm goes off in the morning it only sets me back and getting up the first time it goes off is much more effective for me.  Another example of how I've benefitted from the program is in the way I now look at seemingly negative events as opportunities for growth.  Of late, I had some financial setbacks that left me literally and figuratively devastated.  Instead of feeding into all the negativity I now look at my situation as a learning experience.

In the past, I never viewed myself as a pessimistic person.  Through the years though one negative thought after the other has led to some pretty dark days and I've had to admit that I can be entirely negative at times.  The metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel for me has been this program.  The program has helped me to see that I have the ability to overcome any obstacle but in order to be successful I need to practice self-discipline or the "tools" to life, first.  It's an ongoing choice that I must make to determine my own lot in life.
