To share space or not to share space...

So I'm on the apartment hunt. My budget seems just shy of the perfect place I want, so I started to look at roommates. I'm not sure what to do. Give me your take.

I've always had roomates.  I went from sharing a 10' x 15' dorm room with one guy, to a fraternity house with 25 guys, and then various two bedroom apartments--always with one other guy.  I enjoy living alone as well, but I usually miss having company around the house.  A roomate is nice to have someone to talk to, but you have to get along.

If you have never had a roomate before, it can be a difficult adjustment.  Remember that no one lives exactly as you do.  You will have to adjust your expectations and accept the traits of your roomate.  You should both agree to be clean, neat, and respectful of the other person's personal belongings.  The same goes with food and drinks.  Always ask before using something that isn't yours.  By doing this, after a few months you and your roomate will develop a closer relationship, and you'll end up sharing all kinds of stuff without any issue.

I think it is much easier with guys because we are generally laid back and can get along with each other.  I've heard worse from women who are roomates.  Good luck!
