**I finished this entry about two hours ago, but the webpage was acting funny-- so after ranting about my frustrations I couldn't even post this... HILARIOUS.**
I just had this entry about half finished, when I tried to italicize something and the page just went back to my toolbox... how IRONIC that I would be writing about frustration when the INTERWEB would do something to frustrate me more.. HILARIOUS.
I am in control of my attitude, and I CHOOSE TO HAVE A GOOD ONE!
There, that's better.
Now, back to my previous entry which so carelessly was thrown into the ether.
This semester Jake and I are both taking classes, and between both of us our books have cost almost SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Thankfully, our mothers each bought one of our more expensive books, so we've only spent 475ish out of our own cash moneyz. That, however, is AFTER we both had books for one of our classes which would have added another two hundred onto our total....
It's JUST ridiculous! I mean you gotta know it is a RACKET.
Anyway, this afternoon I went to pick up the book my mother bought for me (from the bookstore, she paid over the phone) and I came home to commence in my studying!
I am such a little eager beaver, go me!
Anyway, this wonderful little book comes with a CD that has a statistics for social sciences program, so you can do the assignments.
To my surprise, I put the CD in, my computer let it whirrrr around for a while, and then it SPIT IT OUT.
wtf, people... wtf.
Fortunately, upon further investigation it turns out that my assignment is not due ontil NEXT tuesday, not tomorrow, so I'm not totally up shit creek, but STILL.
I paid two hundred BUCKS (well, mum did) and it doesn't even have a working FREEKIN CD?
Our computer is old, so you might think that it is a problem with the computer... but it's not, Jake's CDs work FINE... What is wrong with this silly thing?
Fortunately, I don't have to stress about it, since I was actually EXTRA proactive, not procrastinator-ish and therefore I have a week to figure out what to do about my non-working CD.
I guess I'll go try it in some other computers... the problem is that there are two cds included, one for PC and one for mac, my little lappytoptop is a mac, and so I used that CD... I have the necessary operating system, so there really isn't any excuse.
THAT'S RIGHT. NO EXCUSES, COMPUTER SOFTWARE, GET YOUR ACT IN GEAR.
I somehow think that has nothing to do with what coach d meant...
You should be proud though, I sat down with the work book and tried to figure the lab out manually, however, I can't get the second data set without the program, so that effort became a little worthless.
But I tried, and that's what matters! So I emailed my TA and hopefully he has some genius insight or secret for me.
Which brings me to my next subject.
I wrote about it in either my ask or my share earlier today, but I'll give you a little backstory for tonight.
I'm a pretty busy girl, I work full time and go to school full time. So even before I begin to study, I have 51 hours of time taken out of my week just being in class or at work, not including transport, of course.
And sometimes, I need a break... I mean, we all do, right? Since the fiscal year is ending and fabulous macy's doesn't let us accrue or get paid out for unused vacation/PTO, I have to use mine before february 1st.
Being that macy's is a retail establishment, we are not allowed to take any of our time from mid-October until mid-January after inventory. That leaves me with two weeks in the year left and two days of vacation to take-- WAHOO.
So I took both days this week, one for jake's doc. appointment on Friday and one to celebrate MLK's B-day today (and by that I mean, I don't have class, so I might as well not work either.)
This all means (rather long-winded-ly) that I didn't have to work yesterday or today and had no class either!
Basically the last two days I have been a lazy PIECE. I have done my tools work and a little bit of reading for school, but I had most of that done already so there wasn't much to do, but that is really about it for the last 48 hours.
Do I feel guilty? No, not really... just a wee bit. My fave-coworker, morgan, and I were discussing on Saturday just how crap-ola you always feel after the first week back to school and work, it's rather amazing.
It's like you have no momentum and even though the work load in school isn't very heavy, it just takes all your energy out of you.
Never mind that later in the semester there will be weeks when we have to work extra at macy's, hand in two papers and take two exams, etc... that isn't hard, this week was.
So I just thought I'd rant for a bit about how lazy I've been for the last two days... that was fun...
I really like blogging-- it's been one of my life-long favorite things, i've just never been all that consistent with it. In high school my friends and I used to have these internet diaries called "diary-x" or "live journal" but those are long gone.
Hopefully since I WILL finish tools to life I will be able to keep up writing in this. It's not so much about someone else reading it as it is about putting your thoughts out there, even if I am the only one that revisits them later!
TTFN! Ta ta for now!
(I figured its about time to wrap it up, since I can see this quickly devolving into an epic-novel of my ramblings.)
