Ladies!Change Up Your Fitness Routine!

I see woman after women come to me because they just can't seem to lose that last couple of pounds. I ask them what they are doing for their workout routine and the answer is often along the lines of 20 min run on the treadmill, 20 min on the elliptical, 20 min on the bike then go home. I am writing this blog to encourage you women to pick up the weights and change up your routine!! It doesn't have to be anything fancy or intimidating. A couple of sets of biceps curls or shoulder presses is a good place to start. Check out a group fitness class. A lot of women are terrified that they are going to mess up and everyone is going to stare and laugh or make fun of them. I am here to tell you that there are people of all fitness levels in most of those classes and if you do fall, ( I have done this on several occasions. haha) everyone probably WILL stare but it is quickly forgotten once you get back up and keep going. Find a beginner class and get started if you are intimidated. A good one to check out is survivor bootcamp and they usually run all over canada and the usa in various outdoor parks and they cater to all fitness levels. A group fitness class is a good way to incorporate interval training with cardio as well as get a beginner look at weight training (depending on the class). Ask someone at your local fitness facility for some information on a class that would best suit your needs or pick up the latest copy of oxygen magazine for some great weight training routines with form and technique tips included!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I try to incorporate fitness in my daily life, so thank you for the encouragement. Do you have tips in particular for a very tense upper back, stiff neck and shoulders?Thank you!

stiff

When I have that problem I usually either have a hot bath and then stretch, use a combo of heat and cold alternatively, go for a massage or chiropractor or a mix of all of those! haha.

I don't know if it's fair to ask for advice...you should get paid for this, but I"ll ask and you can decline - that's fair :)...

I've been faithfully working out now, including weights and cardio, for 9 years.  10 pound weight GAIN, no change in clothes size.  COULD that possibly be ALL MUSCLE??? or am i fooling myself
