Personal Mission Statement

I've been reading some different goal setting ebooks, and a couple of them suggest creating your own personal mission statement. I'm curious to know if any of you have done this, and if you found it helpful?

Oh my gosh !!! I love misssion statements!!! Years ago I worked for Steven Covey "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People"

So I had to write a mission statement.  But it turned in to a great gift!!  I have a reference to go to when my life is out of whack.

Example one line says; I will run and not be weary.

So let say I'm over weight, (and I am) I go to my mission and read this one line and it tells me what I wanted for my life.  So now I'm working to be in alinement with my mission.

We have a family mission as well, when my kids were young (at a family meeting) I asked what they wanted their family to be like.  Some of the answers were we want to play togeather.  And of course love each other, and get along.

So like normal kids they would fight.  Yes true story.

Anyway I had our mission statement framed on the wall and would say.. Okay kids this is what YOU wanted, so are you doing what you really wanted.

This helped so much, they would acutely stop and think.  Today years later it is still a great gift, cuz we don't alway agree, but we have learned to agree that some times we just disagree and we don't need to get upset.  It's part of our mission.

I became the mission statement queen for many years and wrote many statement for business, workshops and clients.

I totaly believe in having a mission statement It is a great tool.

Good luck with it and have a great journey finding what is important to you.

And good job for asking!
