I am a writer who lives in a beautiful city, in a home I love, with children I adore.  I also have one slightly unruly dog who keeps me in check.  My family is a source of inspiration and strength for me.  My friends bring me joy and cheer me on in my journey.  I am a grateful and optimistic person.

I've been reading some different goal setting ebooks, and a couple of them suggest creating your own personal mission statement. I'm curious to know if any of you have done this, and if you found it helpful?

says:

Oh my gosh !!! I love misssion statements!!! Years ago I worked for Steven Covey "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People"

So I had to write a mission statement.  But it turned in to a great gift!!  I have a reference to go to when my life is out of whack.

Example one line says; I will run and not be weary.

So let say I'm over weight, (and I am) I go to my mission and read this one line and it tells me what I wanted for my life.  So now I'm working to be in alinement with my mission.

We have a family mission as well, when my kids were young (at a family meeting) I asked what they wanted their family to be like.  Some of the answers were we want to play togeather.  And of course love each other, and get along.

So like normal kids they would fight.  Yes true story.

Anyway I had our mission statement framed on the wall and would say.. Okay kids this is what YOU wanted, so are you doing what you really wanted.

This helped so much, they would acutely stop and think.  Today years later it is still a great gift, cuz we don't alway agree, but we have learned to agree that some times we just disagree and we don't need to get upset.  It's part of our mission.

I became the mission statement queen for many years and wrote many statement for business, workshops and clients.

I totaly believe in having a mission statement It is a great tool.

Good luck with it and have a great journey finding what is important to you.

And good job for asking!

What is your answer?

I joined TOOLS because:
I'm interested in creating an abundant life and I enjoy meeting others with common interests. It's wonderful to have found a supportive community such as this!
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
I'm happy to say, I already have it! I'm a writer and I love it. It's my passion.
My favorite wild animal is:
 The African Elephant.
Why (describe as much as possible):
I had the privilege of working with them up close for several years and it was magical.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
Dog! I own a mixed breed because I believe in adopting from shelters and rescue organizations whenever possible, to try to reduce the more than 6 million adoptable pets that are euthanized at animal shelters each year.
Why:
I love my mixed breed, but I always had golden retreivers or yellow labs and I love those breeds the most I suppose!
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
Probably NY Style Cheesecake with a deep and woody merlot!
Why:
 That's my idea of decadence!
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
Morris Dees, founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center. Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam. Dave Matthews, musician. Leonardo DiCapprio, actor. Dane Cook, comedian. And my grandfather who has now passed.
Why:
Morris Dees and Leonardo because they both have achieved amazing things with their activism. Eddie Vedder because I believe he is a brilliant lyricist and I respect his political views and bravery in always speaking his mind. Dave Matthews because he has achieved amazing success with his music but stayed true to following his passion. Dane Cook because he is absolutely funny, funny. And my grandfather because he was such a strong and loving force all through my childhood and I miss him.
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
I'd probably pick Africa, but would wan to stop over in Greece and Egypt. Animals, history, and architecture...that's a vacation!
My perfect slice of pizza is:
Heavy on the tomatoes, no mushrooms or onions, and lots of cheese.
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
 Mojito, please!
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
Venti Non-fat Chai Tea Latte, no foam, no water.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
Health wellness and happiness in my children, a house of her own for my mom, and absolution for my brother.
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
Harry Connick Jr., Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews.
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Create a dog park for offleash fun!
A sunset I remember:
 Was just today, driving home.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
Atticus Finch, from To Kill a Mockingbird.
Why:
He was wise, kind, and used his voice to speak for those who couldn't.
