I am a mid-thirties, white, middle manager in a huge corporation. The exact opposite of what I thought I would be.  I actually enjoy my job and I am surprised to say that.  I work to make money to allow me to do the things I want, when I want.  Most of my structured free-time activities involve hunting or fishing. 

I'm a fat guy, way fatter than I should be.  I am also what we call a non-practicing Catholic, I don't go to church but mostly believe the church is right about the major issues.

I consider myself a neo-hippie with a touch of angst and nihilism.  My biggest issues are overwhelming procrastination and laziness.

I am the oldest of three.  I was born in Columbus, OH and moved to Cincinnati when I was 6.  I grew up in what most people would call a middle to upper middle class family.  We never really wanted for anything.  I went to private grade school and one of the most exclusive high schools in the area.

I was never much of an athlete although I did enjoy participating in soccer, baseball and basketball.  I was one of the guys who was friends with some nerds and with some jocks.  I always got good grades without trying too hard.  I never did well with women (a trend which continues to this day!). 

I went to a state college in Ohio and joined a fraternity, discovered the Dead, pot, drinking and nearly failed out my freshman year.  Then I started paying attention and made Dean's list the rest of the way through.  I smoked pot for the last time sometime during my last semester in school (fall of 1995) and never really had a "problem" with it. 

Who knows...I get the feeling very often that I am just a cog in the wheel and have very little control over the ways things are going to go.  The trouble is, I don't mind that too much.

I would like to get to a point where I am no longer "required" to go to work or have no responsibilities.  The life of a hobo or Grizzly Adams type has an appeal to me but is pretty unrealistic.
