Balance is not going to extremes. We may devote a great deal of time and energy to one area of our lives for a while, but then we need to shift gears and pay attention to those that we have neglected. It is neither possible nor necessary to give equal time and energy to all areas of our lives at once.

Think of the parent with 3 kids. You can't give all of them your full attention at the same time. What you can do is give your full attention to one. Then set a time to give your full attention to another, and then the other.

So it is with the aspects of our lives. Balance is also moderation. Some people indulge themselves so much in leisure or pleasure that every other area of their lives suffer. We need leisure time and pleasure in our lives to maintain a healthy balance, but those things have their time and place.

This is my understanding of balance. I'm sure there are many more ways to think of it.

Have a splendid day!  :)
