says: We seem to have a lot in common, I'm 31 but haven't kicked the weed habit totally yet, but I'm not an abuser. Anyway, I work out about 5 times a week and have a plethora of different activities involving strength training and cardio. Depends on what you want to do and what type of shape your in, but if you want any help just let me know. As far a gym, it's a bag of mixed results. People who religiously go to the gym can be strong or "in shape" but they may not be healthy, (Think, roided out dude with jinormous upper body and little legs, or sickly looking woman who is way too thin) There is a huge difference between being healthy just being fit. I would say the number one area you should focus on beginning to get in shape is your core, and YOGA can be done ANYWHERE, even at home.

says: What are your goals? Do you want to be doing mainly cardio? or mainly weights? or a mix of the both? www.bodybuilding.com is just one of the many websites that has a lot of good information on it for what to do once you get to the gym. You can also google beginner men's workout programs to get an idea. Remember to give your muscles a break and not to train the same body part on back to back days. Also, when doing cardio, try to do interval training i.e. periods of high and medium or low intensity to burn more calories and quickly increase your fitness level.I suggest going to see a personal trainer at least once or twice if you have the money to help you to feel comfortable and also because if you don't have good form when lifting weights it is easy to get injured.
says: Hi there, you really don't need anything to start. Some shorts, a shirt, and some decent shoes. A fitness program will help. I keep a stopwatch to time rest periods, gloves to help with lifting, and a rag to mop up sweat. I also take a little journal with me to keep track of my progress. Day 7... keep going your doing great :)
