What's in a name

Today's lesson was about your name and it made me think about some things:

We are given our names at birth by our parents, sometimes we are named months before we are born, and other times we are named when our parents look into our little faces and say " you look like a ___________" and so it is written and that is your name.

I can remember when I didn't like my name, because it was so common, but then at age 18 I decided that I loved my birth name, I just didn't like it when people shortened it.

My name is Pamela and most people called me Pam.

When I think back, I can remember how powerful I felt when asked "what is your name" and I would say Pamela, very proudly and confidently--the reply would then be can I call you Pam and I would say no I prefer to be called Pamela. There is something about feeling good about you. It is such a powerful force, and yet I have never associated that feeling with feeling good about your name.

One should embrace themselves and love every aspect of yourself and that includes your name, and if by chance you truly don't like your birth given name, change it to something that makes you feel good when you say it and hear it outloud.

Proud to be me

P

A New Year: For New Beginnings

Happy New Year to everyone:

My family started the year with a bang, we were all together, (at my house) all the kids, grandkids and us. We ate a little, had some social spirits and we all were awake to toast the new year.

We shouted out 2008 is gonna be great!!! As we laughed an reminiced about new years of past, growing up and all the funny little things that happen in all families, I noticed the love in the room, there was not a down spirit in the room, as the phone rang with relatives from afar calling to wish us a happy new year, we were all just having a great time, its been a long time since I have felt so at peace with all my family hanging out.

Since we were being social, we all had decided that no one would leave, so as the night moved to wee morning hours, the sleeping bags and pillows came out, and we all slept until morning. It was wonderful.

I am so grateful for my family, and all that I have, my children are healthy and full of life and we (the parents) are growing older, however we still have so much more life in us, I am grateful for waking up each day, with a smile on my face, grateful for my peace of mind, and the knowledge of knowing that my attitude is my decison, I am grateful for this program as I have learned and come to realize so much, although I have not and will not make any resolutions, I know this is going to be a great year, simply because I have made a decision and I expect it to be great. I could go on and on about things I am grateful for, but the one last thing I want to mention is that I am grateful for love. I have love in my heart and in my soul and OH WHAT A FEELING it is to be loved.

I love you all, and most of all I love me.

P

This program is truly amazing, although I woke up smiling and visualizing how I want my life to be, I still had some underlying issues lurking just below sea level in my gut, and no matter how I tried not to let these issues show, I still continued to think about them and I began to feel depressed despite of myself.

Then something amazing happened, I logged onto TOOLS and today's lesson is called fagetta bout it, it tells you to flush things that sadden, upset, depress down the toilet. I mean literally write something down that is bothering or effecting you and then tear it up and flush it down the toilet.

What a great experience, I am amazed how confronting the issue by writing it down and then releasing it by flushing helps to sooth the soul.

I am not saying that I have gotten rid of all my issues with one flush, but I can say that as I heal and forgive myself of recent and past issues, as well as forgive others for pain caused by whatever circumstances or events, I have the ability and the power to move past it and create a wonderful life for myself, a life that I know I deserve and am worthy of.

I believe that therefore I will achieve that.

So, happy flushing to all

P

Just want to say, although I haven't blogged about my exercise for a couple days, I am still going at it, I make sure I get it in everday, either thru going to the gym, a personal routine, or using a tape, whatever the vehicle I get it in and I feel good.

I am also working on my tapes, this is such a fun thing to do, I have an amazing introduction of myself and I sing and do a little spoken word, can't wait till I finish it.

The program is up to two tapes so far, and I have not copmpleted the first, but I will continue to work on both, as I don't want to rush them because I want them to really motivate me as I play them back to myself, after all that is the point.

P

It's been a little over a week since I started on my weightloss journey.

I got on the scale this morning just to see if anything was happening so soon, my thought was that the scale would read the same or it would read that I had gained, however to my surprise I had lost 1- 1/2lbs and I was on top of the world. My goal is to shoot for 2 lbs a week, but I am happy with the result, at least I know on on the right track and it will make me dig a little harder in my actions and the food choices I make.

P
