As Mother's Day approaches:
I think of my mom quite often. She passed away 27 years ago this past Easter.
I miss her a great deal. I was very young when she passed, in my mid twenties with two small children ...
I needed her then
I need her every day
And every day I am reminded that she is here with me at all times.
Don and I went to the mailbox on Wednesday to find an envelope marked, pictures do not bend.
The return address was not a familiar name at all however, it was from my home town of Welland.
Don took all the mail while I opened the envelope. Inside was a short note from someone who was my mom's best friend in grade school. She'd come across a couple pictures of my mom and thought I'd like them.
My mom was Joan's maid of honour at her wedding.
Inside I found an 8x10 picture of my mom, I'd say she was no more than 17 or 18, I'll have to ask Joan when I contact her in May (Don and I will be in Welland in May and plan to look her up).
And when I looked at the picture ... I saw my own daughter looking back at me.
My heart melted and tears filled my eyes.
I was so touched by this thoughtful gift.
Thank you for sharing in my joy.
