As Mother's Day approaches:
I think of my mom quite often. She passed away 27 years ago this past Easter.
I miss her a great deal. I was very young when she passed, in my mid twenties with two small children ...
I needed her then
I need her every day
And every day I am reminded that she is here with me at all times.
Don and I went to the mailbox on Wednesday to find an envelope marked, pictures do not bend.
The return address was not a familiar name at all however, it was from my home town of Welland.
Don took all the mail while I opened the envelope. Inside was a short note from someone who was my mom's best friend in grade school. She'd come across a couple pictures of my mom and thought I'd like them.
My mom was Joan's maid of honour at her wedding.
Inside I found an 8x10 picture of my mom, I'd say she was no more than 17 or 18, I'll have to ask Joan when I contact her in May (Don and I will be in Welland in May and plan to look her up).
And when I looked at the picture ... I saw my own daughter looking back at me.
My heart melted and tears filled my eyes.
I was so touched by this thoughtful gift.
Thank you for sharing in my joy.

janet: I find you soooo inspirational, and I would like to send u this hug so you can be reminded to keep on being who you are...
and though your mom is no longer with you you can be comforted by the knowlege of knowing your daughter resembles your mom

Janet~> What a gracious thing for your Mother's old friend to do! We need our mothers, no matter how old we are. Their expert advise, their love, their approval. So I'm sure you felt the loss when you were raising your children.
Now you are much more aware of God's blessings when you look at your children. And your Mom's genes shining through is an extra special blessing!
You made my day, and I thank you for that! Now I'm thinking happy thoughts about all of my relatives that have passed.
God bless,
