I am still vibrating from this ...
We just returned from a wonderful week in the Dominican Republic where I went to vacation and rest and relax and .... well ... I left the door pretty much open
We went with my daughter and her husband and it was the time of our lives!
I did things I would never before have dreamed possible - thanks to Tools to Life ... I conquered a few fears on this trip.
I went Parasailing ... that was my first jump over the edge of my "border" ...
I went Boogie Boarding ... this is someone who has been suffering with a slipped disc in her back which caused continuous sciatic issues ...
And then the ultimate ... a trip through the jungle to visit where they filmed Jurassic Park ... if you have seen the movie ... you will remember the 27 water falls ... these are very real and I visited them ...
We walked for about 20 minutes through the jungle crossing rivers and streams and seeing things one would not expect ... I remember passing a donkey who was not happy we were nearby ... and was MOST vocal ....
When we reached our destination at the bottom of this string of 27 waterfalls .... a thought came to me ... it was fleeting ... what am I doing here?
But there was little time to think as Antony guided us to the first pool of water where we swam across to the first water fall ... looking up I thought .. how do we get up there ...
Certainly not like Antony did as he traverse the side of the cliff literally like a monkey ... it was a site to behold ...
Antony beckoned us to climb up the rock .. there were holes in the rocks to place our feet and grab on ... he was at the top of the rock and helping from above ...
Rock climbing was not on my list of activities that my chiropractor recommended ...
ok .. I made it up .. not sure how ... (well ok .. yes i know exactly HoW!) ...
Then Antony says .. ok climb the ladder ... there is a TALl ladder made of tree stems ... not 2X4's and such as we'd knwo .. it was quite slimey and well .. ladders and I do not get along ...
Antony wasn't listening .. up up I went ... ok just look up .. you can do it ...
There I was ... Water fall #2 ... into the pool we go ... and up another rock face to water slide #3 ...
and that is where I landed as try as I might .. I knew my limit and I just was not able .. at that moment ... to climb the face of this rock ...
I did try ... Don will tell you as is testiment by the bruise on his knee ... LOL
Antony was most disappointed that he was unable to help me up the face of that rock .. and i said .. no don't worry .. i'm happy to sit here in this paradise and wait for you all ...
So the 4 of them journeyed up to the 7th fall ... as I sat waiting ...
Sat in this warm pool of natural water ... listening to the falls ... the birds ... the wind way up above ....
Looking at the 3rs set of falls and wondering ... how do we get down?
And it hit me .. there is only ONE way .. and that is to slide down this water slide ...
Not my favourite sport ... I can just imagine the look on my Chiropractor's face when I tell her that I did indeed slide down this rock water fall ... and in fact ... on the last one .. we didnt' slide ... we had to JUMP ....
Did I conquer my fear of heights? My son-in-law Ryan asked me that when we were done .. and I said ... NO ...
But I'll tell you something ... I proved I can do anything I set my mind to doing ...
I learned a lot about myself on that trip ... and I thank my journey with Tools to Life for the ability to realize those lessons and enjoy the moments ...
It was a memory I will not ever forget and is right up there at the top of my list of great things I did ...
Can't wait for the next mountain!

Janet,
My Turn. WOW! I can see you climbing up that rock face. Conquering fear is the ultimate challenge, I think, and you did great. I think conquer fear means you go do it. Doesn't necessary the fear is gone, but it didn't stop you. That's the victory.
Thank you for sharing with us. You give us all the courage to storm the barricade of fear!
With admiration,
Nick G
