I am here to talk about how typhoon Frank struck our country.
It is just everywhere, in the news, over the internet, splashed across the newspaper. The typhoon has taken away most of peoples' houses, livestocks and lives, especially in a part of the country we call Iloilo. Only rooftops can be seen amidst a sea of brown soil water and help could not be easily extended due to strong water currents. Evacuation centers have poor conditions predisposing the occupants to several diseases.
Meanwhile in Sibuyan Island, a ferry sank and as of press time (1 PM) 498 dead bodies were found at sea, ballooning twice their size. Many of the passengers came from indigent families.
We are in a country where relief goods don't come raining everyday and emergency government funds seem to be minimal and sometimes invisible.
I feel that I have a social responsibility to spread the word. This is what I am good at, I blog about things, and I am compelled to blog about taking civic action.
I have done what I can and have donated to the victims in kind and monetarily. If you can extend help in any way, please do check the local government unit announcement in this website http://www.byahilo.com/2008/06/25/typhoon-frank-ravages-the-philippines-iloilo-needs-your-help/
and you can also help by donating through Philippine National Red Cross

please pass on. some small talks can go a long way.

MY PRAYERS AND WISHES INCLUDED ...
My heart goes out for them and I feel for the relatives and loved ones. That is very nice of you to find time to spread the word through your blog. A humanitarian way, that is just wonderful. We need more people like you who take responsibility on this matter. I hope you'll also find means to be involved in other things (in looking after the Earth and other environment-related issues).
Thanks for that in-depth share, keep us posted and enjoy your journey with the program.
Have a great day, JaxF!
Cheers,
Autumn Mist
