I normally don't have too much trouble being on time. I'm often one of those annoying people who subscribes to the philosphy, "to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be left behind." I try to orchestrate my life in such a way as to always be on time. It's rather ridgid, and not always fun; but it IS low stress. My family, on the other hand, is always running behind. "I'm ready", "I'll be right there", and "I'm on my way" are relative terms to the rest of my family. They have a much more relaxed attitude to time. Part of it is their mother is of Mexican heritage, and time means something different to them. We have friends who are also of hispanic origin, and often, when planning to meet for an event at a certain time, the question will be a joking, "Is that real time, or Mexican time?" They don't mind waiting, or being late. It drives me up the wall. Miss the beginning of a movie? No big deal - to them! It's been the genesis of more than one argument in our home. It seems it's me against all of them, and they're all girls, so I'm always outnumbered. I try to be more relaxed with them, but if I'm honest, it's usually smiling through gritted teeth. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jay

says: St. Francis' of Assisi's Prayer. You are outnumbered. I tend to be the one at our house because when I have the (hypomanic) energy, I'm doing a half dozen things while trying to get ready. I have a 14 year old daughter who also drags her feet. My husband is the timekeeper for us and sometimes reminds us about when he thinks we should be getting ready and for me to keep focused and do nothing else. About ten minutes before, he gives us another reminder so he's not squawking constantly. He also gives us a time which is generous enough to allow us to get there on time and spare a few minutes. I too, try not to be an annoyance, and I realize he's right about me staying focused and considering how he feels.

What is your answer?

I joined TOOLS because:
I want to enjoy my life more.
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
I don't know. I like the look of Anthony Bourdain's job on "No Reservations". Travel the globe, eat, drink, meet interesting people.
My favorite wild animal is:
 Eagle
Why (describe as much as possible):
Strong, powerful, majestic. Travel the globe, eat, drink, meet interesting woodland creatures. LOL Seriously, I guess it's the sense of freedom they have.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
 Dog. I especially love Samoyeds.
Why:
Loving, well tempered, loyal. Lots of hair though.
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
Lamb chops with mint jelly. Creamed sweet potatos with a touch of cinnamon and butter. steamed asperagus spears. Chocolate-rasberry mousse.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
 1. Ellen Degeneres, 2. Benjamin Franklin, 3. George Patton, 4. Paul the Apostle, 5. my wife
Why:
 1. She's engaging, charming, witty, and hilariously funny. 2. Such a wise man, ahead of his times. I would love to hear his take on the world of today. 3. A brilliant manager and stategist. 4. I have so many questions. 5. My wife is really cool, and I would like all of them to meet her.
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
Toss up; Ruidoso, NM, or Belize
My perfect slice of pizza is:
Mr. Jim's veggie. It really is the crust!
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
 Irish whiskey, double, neat.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
Strong black tea, no cream, no sugar.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
Wisdom, the ability to apply it, perserverance.
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
The best of Sinatra, ZZ Top - Eliminator, AC/DC - Back in Black
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Make sure everyone had good healthcare coverage.
A sunset I remember:
Off the deck at my condo looking over The Inn Of the Mountain God's, Ruidso, NM.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
 Captain Picard, Star Trek TNG
Why:
I'm not a huge Trek fan, but I really liked this series, and that character in particular. He was an effective manager, and seemed to have a good grasp on work/life balance. He didn't always have all the answers, but surrounded himself with people who did, and he didn't lose his head when the going got tough.
