I Agree!
Kudos to you!
"Kinked" dreams
sounds familiar...
A societal lie is that all people choose their sleep schedule. I consider it a genetic anomaly on par with a body that produces twice the red blood cells as everyone else. (This one almost cost a guy his olympic medal when he was accused of blood doping).
You need a sleep study. No coffee or caffine for minimum 6 weeks. If you can't function without it. And I mean, unable to drive safely going even one day without it. You have a sleep "disorder".
Addiction to caffine is only an addiction to functionality or "in the zone" function. Downing a Red bull or Monster when you hit a funk, or want to add an edge to study time or testing is normal usage. Daily usage, multi serving and multi shot espresso coffees mid morning (in my case) is not normal, nor is it a sign of addiction. It means, you have something else to work on.
But why do I bring this up in reference to dreams? Well when I went off the coffee completely (for a week prior to Narcolepsy Medication) it made no difference to quality of sleep. That is not normal. Your body should normalize itself within about 2 to 3 days. And the period of being off of it for weeks is to normalize some other metabolic states.
If that sounds scary... it means you need to get help. And Provigil has been used off label as assisting in people doing shift work. Doing shift work can actually cause a false positive for Narcolepsy. Not many sleep clinics know this (no matter what standard they say they are using).
Oh yes further clarification. Dreams are not supposed to be remembered unless there is a trauma memory that jolts you out of REM sleep directly. This is normal in times of great stress, or changing life direction. It isnt normal if you rarely go a night without remembering a dream (like my self).
Kinked dreams... can be caused for any number of reasons physically speaking. One thing that can cause this is what is called "Central Sleep Apnea" where the brain will actually stop breathing automatically and you end up with oxygen deprivation without airway obstruction OR snoring. This has connections to Narcolepsy as well.
So to the dreaming state you desire! Best wishes.
