I think you need to go after what you really want and not settle for what comes up short. Aim high. Look for, go after, and expect the very best of what you like.

If you are talking about relationships, the same suggestion holds true, but you also have to make sure that you are a match to that person who is what you really want.

Its the same thing with a job or career. Be the person that fits with the high standard you are looking for.

Do the best you can with what you have. Put the effort in to be the best you that you can possibly be. Then, you will be a match to a higher standard and that which is at that level will gravitate to you.

The short answer is, "No. Your standards are not too high."
