Welcome! I actually started my own 'life change' crusade a few years ago, after a few dire realizations regarding the extent to which I had let my life choices be dictated by others, primarily my mother. She and her tactics were only worsening with age, and the effects on my mentality and identity finally caused me to wake up and take action. Dropping out of the family drama cycle and changing my role from victim to empowered, threatened everyone else's roles and upset the family dynamics. Aside from my daughters, I was basically extricated from the family for not playing the game. The 6 months that followed were rocky to say the least, and being self-employed, my business suffered tremendously. But last Fall I DECIDED to pick myself up and put things back together - in a new way.

I have spent 8 months focusing on getting my business back on track. I started my own Checklist and things turned around so quickly it was almost too much to handle. In the last 4 months I've been booked solid and my income is double the previous years. Focus, positive self-talk, a Checklist and no excuses.

Then I found Tools! And I'm so thankful - because Tools is helping me to do the same for the rest of my life - to reach out - and start to really enjoy it. I'm learning how to give myself space, create boundaries, disengage myself from the old victim/rescuer/persecutor cycle, give others space, and most importantly - learn to trust. Thankfully I have two amazing, intelligent, patient and very loving adult daughters who have gently supported me (and I, them) the whole way. I am truly thankful.

Tools has already helped me so much - I'm learning how to get involved with community, trust, accept support and provide support. Thanks to Coach Steele, and to all of you.

I joined TOOLS because:
I'm trying to develop and keep consistency in my life - as it's become a challenge since I'm now my own boss and work from home. No boss giving instructions, and it's taken awhile to learn to become my own boss. But I'm here for all areas of my life. Now that I'm working on my own - when one thing falls apart, it can affect everything else, and my business can fall apart in the process if I don't practice consistency. (see my dream job, below)
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
It's what I do now! Back in the 90s I was walking into work everyday, past rows of cubicles, thinking "this was never going to be my life". I started a program in Computer Graphics and eventually discovered my niche, custom-designed hi-end music websites. In 2001 I was laid off
My favorite wild animal is:
I don't know if I have favorites... but birds... flocks of migrating birds are amazing to me. I often try to imagine what that type of life would be like. I've often dreamed of being able to take off and fly.
Why (describe as much as possible):
Unfortunately I think my flying dreams were mostly about escaping, and mostly from my overbearing mother who tried to run my life. I had flying dreams my whole life until finally confronting my issues a few years ago... and spent a year in therapy. Fortunately, birds in flight are now taking on a new, more positive meaning to me. I've learned how to give myself space... and working boundaries.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
I've had dogs, cats, birds (caged, as a kid). And I've loved the dogs I had in the past, but I now have 4 rescued cats and I love them all - and feel privileged to share a house with them... ;-)
Why:
I respect their independence - probably because I fought off a smothering, manipulative mother most of my life. So my cats (3 calico
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
I don't have any specific dishes, but I'd say almost anything I've ordered in Italy or Southern France. I'm not into famous chefs. But my favorite restaurant in LA is a little Italian one on 3rd at Robertson, Cafe Angelino - the owner is from Naples and makes a killer spinach ravioli and an amazing spicy chicken ravioli too.
Why:
The flavor is so amazing you need to just hold each bite in your mouth until you've taken in and fully appreciated all the flavors. Authentic Italian food is definitely my favorite. It's their true religion.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
gotta think about this one too...
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
Oh.... I naturally think of Rome first - it's the favorite place I've been. But I want to visit India and stay there for awhile and just experience it.
My perfect slice of pizza is:
At Pizzeria Baffetto in Rome, on Via del Governo Vecchio, just west of Piazza Navona. One with paper thin slices of meat sprinkled with fresh arugula, others I can't remember, but each an amazing experience.
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
Usually red wine - preferably a nice Pinot Noir. But I like chocolate martinis too.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
If it has good coffee, I'd order a Cappuccino or if it's really good, I'd order an espresso.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
 1. Send me a handsome, sexy pianist and soulmate who I can listen to all day and share life with. 2. A farmhouse just outside Rome... but close to the train, for spring time vacations. 3. A... oh geez, a private jet so I can fly my kitties back and forth. PS: Please send me a guy who likes to cook, maybe better make him Italian.
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
I love my neighborhood!! That was one of the big changes I made in my life 2 years ago - I moved to a community I love to be a part of. I'm just beginning to get involved in it. I love taking walks here and looking at people's gardens. I love hiking in Griffith Park (until it burned down 2 months ago). I love walking down to little cafes and ethnic places to eat, have lunch and talk to the owners. I love walking around Echo Park or just sitting on the grass and looking at the fountain with the downtown buildings behind it. I love going to art workshops in the neighborhood, and concerts and museums only a few miles away. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
A sunset I remember:
I remember driving home from work a - on the freeway, and the sky was entirely pink and lavendar with wispy clouds reflecting the colors and one long amazing golden streak cloud pulling the color out of the setting sun. I almost had to stop driving.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
Gotta think about this.. I can think of fragments here and there I'd want to incorporate.
