My Attitude

A little story about my attitude.  When I left for vacation I stayed at a hotel and left my car.  When we got back late Sunday evening I found it was broken into, the inside trashed, we were all tired and just wanted to go home.  We had to spend the night, spend money, find a repair shop, etc.  The clerk in the hotel said he was sorry and I said to him its no big deal we just had a great vacation and stuff like this builds character.  he looked at me as was like wow I don't think I could act as calmly as you are about this.  I felt really great.  Normally I would have used this as an excuse to pound drinks and I did not.

Then yesterday a buddy of mine said I was very grumpy everytime he spoke to me about a company I am working with, doing some consulting and I thought I was doing great.  This company is filled with some of the worst people I have met with two in particular, one is a pill popper and the other is an alcoholic, all though are very disorganized and I am miserable when I am around them.   I just come in, do my thing, try not to talk much and get out and go thank god thats over but it obviously sticks with me all the time.  How can I deal with a personal tragedy so well and these guys throw me off my game.

I am going to be spending a lot of time with them over the next few months so I need to get my shit together on how to make this work.  I just need to treat them like a broken window and look at them as character builders I guess.  Normally I would have just came home and had a few stiff drinks and moved on but that is not an option.  Anyway just thought I would share that.
