all questions»

I am new to the Tools program and am finding it helpful so far and am trying to keep an open mind about moving forward. After all the positive thoughts and activities, how do you keep "having a great day" when something terrible happens?

I just found out a family member passed away and feel like it really set my progress back. I dont want to wake up and say I'm having a great day because in fact I'll be attending a funeral, and I'm not going to make a point of smiling all day because I'll be mourning all day.

Has anyone had a similar experience and can share how they kept up their momentum in Tools? Thanks!

i know this is late, but he clearly states that saying "i'm having a great day" doesn't mean you won't have bad things that occur.  losing someone in your life is never easy, but if you think about it from the perspective of the person who is gone, would you really want everyone standing around crying? yes you will miss them, but you should celebrate their life and be grateful for the time you spent with them.  you can smile about the great times you had together, and that can motivate you to change the way you interact with others to "have a great day"!
