little surprises

well,  today is the day i'm supposed to find out when i leave my current place of work. but much is happening, and as usual, i'm doing my best to decipher the information. we had a back of house person who also was fed up with "things" and after a scene, had a meeting with the store mgr. he apparently laid the truth of things at his feet with some eye opening information. he's also requested i stay and work with him in his area. he insists on some changes and if those changes don't occur, he will be leaving as well.  that was one.  flattering but also a little frightening as i was adjusted to the idea of leaving. then last night, a small miracle of timing. a customer, whom i've had the pleasure of helping on a few occasions, came in and asked for me specifically. during our chat at the counter i told her i would most likely be transferring out, she announced, she would only make her purchases in the unit i was at. the sales associate who had been helping her was amazed i had this lady's information memorized and up in my computer in minutes without ever having to ask her, her name or number. the customer will be writing to home office regarding my abilities, as i'm sure she's true to her word and she wished me well.  she also promised i would see her again no matter where i worked.  how great is that? (i'm soo blessed)  the sales associate who came back to speak to me later was questioning me about this customer and told me she's heard this before. and how,  now she understands why several of the sales team members are quite upset over the rumor of me leaving. i guess, some are planning a meeting with the store manager as well to voice their concerns.  this was all so touching to learn, i fought back the tears all the way home.  so i guess,  that even when i leave, i can now take the confirmation that i was able to touch some lives in positive ways. that my efforts at my job had not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated. i'm ready for today, more than i ever have been.
