dealing with disappointment

at first i wasn't going to put this in.  doesn't seem like much to talk about. but here goes anyway.  i went for an inner company interview friday. i'm fairly positive i will not get the transfer. i've been trying to get a transfer for about two years now. and although i deal with much adversity in the work place, this time, things seem so very different.  i'm hoping it's the tools influence of being responsible to myself.  how to explain how i feel, is difficult. but suffice it to say,  i'm not discouraged by the set back. as maybe, it's not a set back. guess i'll find out soon enough.

Kellea, I sympathize with your situation, as I was in an identical situation about 2 years ago. I started an entry level position at a large corporation with the idea that I was going to work my way to the top. I took on extra responsibilities with no pay increase or change in title.  I watched people move up the corporate ladder not because of their skills or what they could bring to the company, but because they knew the right people.  I didn't want to play the game like that. I wanted to be judged on my ability alone.  After 4 interviews for 4 different positions, I began to become very discouraged. I felt my hard work was not recognized, and it affected my attitude greatly.  When I was not allowed to interview for a postion within my department because of "lack of experience", yet the outside person they hired  had less experience than me, I decided I needed to make a change.  I started looking for another job.  I took control of my life and changed the things that I could.  I found a job paying 30% more than what I was previously making!  I know it is hard to get out of our comfort zone,  but  I believe this is the universes way of telling you that there is something out there better for you.  I hope you find this encouraging, and best of luck to you! May you find the job of your dreams with all the benefits you deserve.
