Letting go of the old and embracing the new

 

I have stopped accepting the unacceptable. 

 

The milestone is that I  will be only in a relationship with a man who treats me properly.  Properly means respecting me and who I am.  This is something that goes both ways. I will be very aware of any "red flags" that may appear at the beginning.  I will take responsibility for myself for these observations and acting accordingly.

 

I will not deny what I see. 

 

I can only change me. 

 

 Waiting for another to change is a trap that I have,in the past, fallen into. I also have thought that if I changed then something/someone else would also change.

 

There is growth in letting go  of these old ways of relating is an important milestone.

 

There will be new opportunities out the to practice my new behaviors of relating

I really affirm you for writing what you have, I too have taken too long to learn that you are better off single than in a bad relationship. I have learned through tools that I am the most important person in my life - that romance is wonderful, but I am wonderful with or without it. I wish I'd learned this years ago........take care and well done!
