You deserve a star for asking the question!
HEALTHY FOODS with good nutrients = leafy greens (most nutrients per 100 calories on the planet), green veggies, colorful non-starch veggies, fruits, legumes/beans, 1oz of raw (not roasted) nuts or seeds a day (to keep hearthealthy).
To read up on this I recommend the books: Eat to Live & Eat for Health by Joel Fuhrman, MD (can find in any big bookstore or online).
Generally, for most of us, we were raised on the "STANDARD AMERICAN DIET" (SAD Diet which includes a lot of foods that are fake/processed -- in a box, can, package) , and we wreck our natural taste buds with the high salt/sugar/additives/preservatives, but, they can be re-gained with practice (and eliminating the taste bud ruiners). I know that when I am eating the SAD diet I have no interest in fruit or veggies (as sodas, junk foods, fast foods, other sugars/salts kill our appetite and taste for whole foods). And, organic veggies/fruits taste great (compared to conventional foods in most markets).
Also, eating fruit on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning upon waking) is easy -- try a couple fruits then wait a half hour (30 min) before anything else is ingested or sipped (but 45 min after a banana, date, or fig).
I eat fruit only on an empty tummy (first thing in morning eat 2-4 fruits on ave); then usually a late afternoon fruit or a pre-supper fruit (about 40 min before supper).
You can also enjoy fruit smoothies on an empty stomach too -- as long as you skip the high sugar/fat additions.
Basic Fruit Smoothie Recipe: 1-frozen banana for sweetness...,1-fresh or frozen fruit of your choice, 1-cup water or more to your thickness, and, to make a healthy "green smoothie" -- I sometimes add a handful of fresh baby leaf spinach for an easy veggie serving as you cannot taste it due to the sweet fruit taste -- makes a pretty green color, too). If none of the fruit is frozen, toss in some ice cubes, too.
