struggling with self help tapes

I am trying to make my exercise tape and am really stuck. I have made the first self-help tape and listen to it 2 times a day, but have found that I daydream through it.  I start thinking about other things that need to be done.  I am a visual learner and really wonder if that is part of the problem.  I can listen and see the words on the page when I wrote them, but thats it..I see the words, but they don't mean anything. I am thinking about making some type of visual scrapbook to try to motivate me more.  Anyone else struggle with this?

Stuck at Exercise Tape Too.

Hi,

I'm in the same boat.  I have made the first tape and find myself listening to it once a day but have vowed to listen to it while commuting when I'm back at work next week.

Exercise is an uncomfortable area for me and I tend to avoid doing things that make me uncomfortable.

Really though when you break it down into smaller bits it shouldn't be that hard.

If you would like to exchange e-mails so we can build our scripts I would be into that.

If you want to my first question for you to answer would be:

What do you look like, act like, and feel like now that exercise is part of your daily life and you are at your ideal weight?

If you send me your answer the first part of your script will be done and we'll be on to part two.

Cheers,

Angel

Well, I made mine......and also have questions

I just did it.....and I do listen to it yet I listen to the general tape more frequently. I plowed throughit the day it was assigned...and I do like it....I guess I thought that because I am exercising more, I don't need th is one as much - that could be a dangerous thought!

I find that I do tune out during the general tape....and I get the sensation of a mild headache - I get a bit annoyed.

I personally believe that I am resisting the messages because I have trained my brain in a negative direction for ...well....the majority of my life.  I'd say 10 years ago I started to turn the thoughts around....but not in this way with affirmations - and so often.

So I am not sure if I am simply experiencing internal resistance or not.....but I do find that certain affirmations do bring me back to the moment....which I think is interesting.  I am wondering what else I need to do while I listen - like visualize at the same time - to make sure I am present and "receptive"...kind of like adding a performance fuel additive to gasoline.....

I was actually going to blog on this at some point.....so I appreciate that you did.  I appreciate knowing what others are experiencing with this.  How about an exercise video rather than a tape?  Just a thought!

Keep me posted, please.  I really am interested in what is happening. And maybe others will share as well.
