The joy of music

I had a pleasant evening last night, sort of belated birthday outing, went along to see Rachel Unthank and the Winterset, a folk group from Northumberland in England. I have a wide taste in music, but was never quite into folk. But, I heard an interview on Radio last year with the band, and some tracks were played, and instantly fell in love with the music, although all the band are pretty nice looking also, but I digress, Stunning music, atmospheric and haunting.

So when they came to Glasgow I just had to go, they are in Scotland a few more times this year so I'll try and make it along. It has made me listen to a few other folk artists also.

The concert was great with a good Scottish support act, 2/5ths of the Brotherhood Collective (long story).

The music as I said atmosphermic, haunting, beautiful with some laughs thrown in. I think they'd had a few beers, and with a few hundred people in a small venue, just the right setting.

They sing in their own accents, no put on accents, makes it more auhentic.

I guess I am more interested in music now because I'm learning guitar, give me a B, give me an A, then a D. Sums up my playing so far, but getting better all the time.

But, music is great, a wonderful medium for bringing people together. We all have our favourite styles of music, preferring one to another, but at the end of it all, a good melody or stunning lyrics or great instrument playing transcends the genre, so I, as most of us do, never reject something due to its roots, we accept it because simply we like it.

The joy of music.

Have a great day, and if you're inclibed listen to Rachel and the girls.

Interesting Music

Martin, I did listen and it is very interesting, I especially like the music behind the song, sounded so much like the Irish/Scottish songs that I have heard in the past, old and lovely.  Thanks for posting that, Micci

MAKES ONE FEEL REALLY ALIVE!

Thanks for that lovely share.

Music, music, music.  Love it!  Being an avid, I do believe it makes up the whole in us.   And just like how the ABBA delivered it:

"Thank you for the MUSIC!!!"

Clap, splash, brush, smile.  Have a great day, Martin!

Cheers,

Autumn MistKiss

I hear you I hear you ... "thank you for the MUSIC".  Sending you good thoughts, love, sunshine and bubbles.
