A day of challenges

Today has been a challenge.  I don't even think I can explain it well.  There was a gun threat at work that I tried to manage by phone (I am the supervisor) and getting a car that had a MAJOR repair and a big financial hit in a city 2 1/2 hours from home. There was an unexpected 3 hours wait and childcare arrangements to try and make on the spur of the moment.  There was a competition my son was in and a rush to get there.  I am such a spaz when he has a competition!  All day long I was anxious and upset, trying to see opportunity in "problems."  I used some of the waiting time to shop in unsual stores but only bought a few little things so that I did not go over financially and I managed to problem solve childcare and be supportive of my work team (thank God for cell phones!).  I worked on letting things go and used positive self talk to cremind myself how welll Zach has done so far and that just being at state was enough.  At the end of the day I feel proud of the way I managed to handle things  (with my hubbys support) but I also have a tension headache.  Still lots of room to grow eh?

Sounds really good

You deserve a star You deserve a star

To me it sounds that you are really working to remember and use your TOOLS, in some stressful situations, good and not good. Life still throws us curves, so the idea is just what you are doing. Learn to manage and deal with those curves in a new way.

I agree too...just to ENTER competition is something a mom can be proud of. To win at every level is fantastic, to enter and do your best at every level but not win, is fantastic. Winning is just...winning. I'm glad you can remind yourself of that. Cuz...otherwise we can feel like "I didn't win so I'm no good."  Are you kidding!? How many kids get to State?? How much hard work was that??

I hope you keep using those Tools every day. After a while they become part of you.
