The first time Coach discussed personal rules, he assigned us a task of creating one new personal law a day. Can I just tell you that annoyed me? I thought, "Who wants to make up MORE AND MORE rules?" Can't we keep this simple? If I am making a new rule every day, how bizarre will my life be at the end of a year???
You won't be shocked that I resisted doing this of course. Every now and then as I worked TTL or lived life I would suddenly come across a "new" good personal law that I liked and I would add that. So when we got to laws a second time, I feel pleased to say that, after listing 20 personal laws I only had three to rewrite that were written in the "negative." I didn't sweat them that much either. It is becoming easier and easier to live by the improved guidelines on how to live daily life. Not everyday is perfect (this a.m. dh had car trouble so I went to help him and the bed remained unmade), but I do have one confession to make...
One of my negative statements was "Don't smoke." Now I haven't smoked in a few years! But would you believe the little Nicodemon that I thought I had exorcised actually spoke up and said, "Do you really want to put that in writing?" Then, during the second part of the exerise, the coach suggested that it needed to be written in a positive way such as, "I make healthy decisions for myself" and that obviously making the decision to avoid cigarettes was built into that. As I wrote that out, however, the nicodemon smiled and nodded approvingly and said, "Oh good, that leaves me more room. Afterall, rules were made to be broken and you break that one all the time. Haven't you been thinking about a blizzard from Dairy Queen on the way home? Yep, this is a rule you cannot follow!"
What a scary demon! Will he get me to break all my rules this way? Is there a priest in the house?

Not a priest but maybe I can shed some light on the subject
You are taking the idea of saying I live a healthy life to an extreme place that anything you do that you enjoy is against that law.
It is all about moderation and overall effect in life. There is nothing wrong with having a blizzard from Dairy Queen if that is what you like, or a glass of wine and other items in moderation. If you are living a healthy life of exercise and eating well yo can enjoy many things in moderation.
Where it is unhealthy is where it becomes the way of life to have a blizzard from Dairy Queen everyday. Smoking is not something that ever ends up in moderation and some things do not apply to the law of moderation like drugs etc.
You know when you are being unhealthy and when you are not. You are not breaking a personal law when you enjoy things in moderation. However if you can be so extreme to say you are, then the personal law of being healthy does not make sense and then this gives you a way to say the heck with it and do anything all the time.
So keep the law of being healthy and enjoy life and be honest with yourself about what is moderation and what you should and should not do and you will be staying within your personal law.
I hope this help,
