Highly recommend reading the book Allen Carr's "Easyway to stop smoking. I personally know 6 people that read the book and stopped immediately.
It's premise is similar to what Aylewand mentioned, if you want to be a non-smoker stop seeing yourself as a smoker that stopped.
It is a quick read and anyone I have bought it for has never regreted reading it.
