Day 23 - Confused and Lost

I am lost and confused. I created a detailed to-do list that accounted for all of my time. I even built in "Free Time".  This is what I used to do when I was in law school. Create busy days so I would purposely stay busy and get a lot done. That used to work. Even this method is not working.

I have tried so many different ways to get myself motivated. I just cant seem to get my act together. Time is running out.  I am losing faith in my ability to turn this around...

I am so lost, not sure what I need to do to get motivated.  I desperately need to get into gear so I can save myself from financial ruins. But, I cannot get motivated...

Re.

Hey there,

Have you tried creating a "stop do" list, ie I will stop doing this or that?  Might be worth a try and will be much shorter than the "to do" list.  Try focussing on the things you need to stop doing.....because those are the negative things holding you back.  Start with 3 items the first week and add 3 the next week.

I know what it is to be lost in life when it comes to jobs, I would spend a lot of time worrying about getting the job that would give me everything right away.  Well I found it but when there was a blip in the oil/gas economy I found myself laid off.  I have since found it better to just find something that is secure and that somewhat makes me happy.  I struggle everyday for motivation.  I came to tools to work on me so that I can show myself the path.

You create busy days so that you get a lot done........how about trying and setting a pace and a rythm to your day.  I say this because if you are always running around and trying to be busy you will not have time to make sound decisions or talk to yourself in your head about decisions that you need to make.   Just slow your day to day down but accomplish just as much and talk to yourself.

Cheers,

Don't give up!

I hear what you're saying. I have had a hard time with this as well. One question I have to ask is: Are you following the rest of the program to the word?

I know that when I was struggling with this myself, I went back and completed the tasks that I thought "just weren't me" or "not my issue". This gave me more accountability to the tasks that I was struggling with.

I'm not saying that you aren't following the program to the letter,I'm just sharing my story.

Perhaps, you can share with one of your friends and supporters and ask them to assist. Being accountable to someone else, having them check in with you may be an option too.

At any rate, keep trying...you can beat this!

What is the single thing that if you did now would make a change in your life?

Then go do it.

I have always struggled with the list concept - the to do's or as someone else says - the shoulds.

What as really worked for me is a much shorter version of the to-do list?

I write down the projects that I am working on and I itemise the top one thing that is next to complete on each project.  Then I prioiritise them using my opening line?  What is the one thing that if I did it now would get me through and make the changes in my life?  Then I try to do it with excellence?

Note that there are no more than 6 things on my list on most days for work - more than that just don't seem to get done.

Hope that helps and yes sticking to tools - helps!

Have a great day! Angie
