Where I am at the Turning of The Year

Quantifying where I am compared to say a year ago, and looking forward to what I want to be a year from now, isn't an easy task but one I think would help both myself and others see the changes Tools is bringing about.

Just over a year ago, I would have to admit that I had lost my way. I wasn't happy with where I was, but wasn't sure where I would go from that place. I spent alot of time doing stupid things like on line gambling and other waste my time actions.

Then I stumbled on a Franklin/covey day timer and thought that might improve my performance. With the day timer was a CD and on that CD was a course on how to develop your personal mission statement. Something I had never been able to do to my satisfaction. The course asks questions and records your answers then throws your answers back in the form of character traits and things you care about. Which brought me to a place when I was a young boy just waking up on an early summer morning, full of sunshine and light.

From that came my basic mission statement.

Once I had that my life began to change. I created Beautiful Summer Morning, and later Beautiful Summer Morning Quote of the Day.

I some how tripped over Janet Legere who basicly picked me up, dusted me off, turned me around and push me in the right direction. Which lead me to payitforward an internet program I promote.

From that came a huge learning curve, and some where in there Janet Promoted the Tools site as a special gift to some of her Subscribers. I joined.

From there it has been leaps and bounds. Its really trivial things like brushing your teeth more. I went out and got the travel tooth brush and I use it at work after coffee. and lunch.

I started drink more water and my blood sugar dropped. I started taking ten minutes each day to do something to make my life a little better. I started buying flowers for the house. The house began to look a little cleaner. Now I've learned I've got to take a second.

Coach Steele suggested that I record my progress, so instead of doing it later I've done it now.

I find I catch myself thinking negatives or one of the hundred things that I am so much more conscious of than I use to be. I listen more to my inner voice. I have started hanging my keys up in the same place. This is not new stuff, but it has build up over time.

I am amazed where I am now in my thinking. my responsibility level and my goal setting.

In a year I want to see Beautiful Summer Morning really start to have an impact for the better on other peoples lives. I see an elevation in the depth and which I experience life. I feel more, joy, more success, better relationships.

I see my house tidy from top to bottom and in every little cubbyhole.

I am really , really excited about that.

I am excited also about the place between potential and actual. That space, that moment is our place: the beat between today and tomorrow, the pause with all possibility held in our grasp to the moment when that possibility is transformed by us into reality.

Isn't that exciting.

I am enjoying a great year. And I thought 2006 was pretty damn good.

Year of Change

I agree with Mali. This is a great post. I like all the little details about how life wasn't going so well, and how those details have changed (like hanging up your keys). I like the image of "finding" that happy boy you were on a summer morning, and how that has inspired a current project. I like that you give credit to people who gave you a "leg up" (as they call it in the horse business. You get a friend to give you a boost, or a "leg up" onto the horse. The bigger or more spirited the horse, the more important and more helpful it is to get a leg up!). THANKS for sharing this lovely meandering of ideas and successes.                    Wordbird

Graet Blog!

Very inspirational.  I look forward to seeing all you are going to create this year and to the inspiration and effect you will have on others.

Cheers and Happy New Year!
